In addition, all faculty work in alignment with the College’s mission, vision, and values to continuously improve as professional educators and experts in their field. Faculty further serve the College in collaborative and collegial relationships across the institution. LCCC supports adjunct faculty by providing an environment conducive to excellent teaching and learning, classroom equipment and supplies, and resources to meet the challenges that arise in the course of teaching.   Prudent utilization of LCCC’s resources is a prime responsibility of LCCC’s administration. Therefore, the college reserves the right to change course assignments if needed.  Full-time faculty member with less than a full load may be assigned to teach a course that was originally assigned to an adjunct instructor. All changes in teaching assignments will be made prior to the first class meeting. The position of Adjunct Instructor is part-time, non-benefitted, and employed on a course-by-course basis without any obligation or promise of continued future employment and are provided competitive compensation. LCCC provides a number of resources to its adjunct faculty. Support systems are in place to assist all faculty in supporting student success through excellent instruction. These supports are outlined in detail in the LCCC Faculty Handbook, which serves as a vital and current reference to policies and procedures that impact expectations of all faculty of the College. Job Summary:  Core responsibilities of this position include: The Student Assistant, Chemistry position for LCCC is a part-time, non-benefited student position that requires current enrollment as an LCCC student. Preference or priority screening may be given to student(s) that qualify for Federal Work Study eligibility. (Students may speak with the LCCC Student Hub and Financial Aid to determine if they are Federal Work Study eligible). This position is responsible for assisting the department with routine tasks and projects that support the day-to-day operations of the department. Under the direct supervision of program Faculty/and or LCCC Staff and in accordance with College policy and procedure, this position will assist with the inventory, organization, and disposal of program supplies, including chemical inventories and lab materials. Additionally, this position may facilitate responsibilities including, but not limited to clerical work such as filing, scanning, sorting, data entry, copying and delivering paperwork; assisting in preparing office materials; answering phones; providing general customer service; supporting special projects; and overall assisting the operational functions of the department. Individuals in this position are expected to represent the Department and LCCC in a professional manner and adhere to applicable policies and procedures. For example, an applicant could run the clock for a soccer match and take tickets at a basketball or volleyball contest Applicant may work more than one position. Positions require availability outside of the normal business hours of the Athletics and Recreation PE Facility including weekends and nights.     Compensation: $13.33 per hour, commensurate with experience.    Screening Date: Screening is ongoing until positions are filled.   Start Date: As soon after screening process as practical based on event schedule. Students are taking these courses for enrichment and lifelong learning purposes. The SME is responsible for creating course proposals in an area of expertise, knowledge and skill, and submitting these proposals in a timely manner, each semester they wish to teach. They will coordinate with the Life Enrichment (LE) Program Manager and staff to ensure all details of the course are finalized and completed, including providing information on projected course materials and supplies cost to determine an appropriate class fee. They are then responsible for preparing course materials that will engage a variety of learners. Communicating with LE staff as well as students is a vital skill and professionalism is key.
