  • Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. After-hours on-call duties on a rotational basis

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, at-will, benefited Classified 9 level position. Starting salary range: $28.51 - $35.71/hour depending upon directly related experience.

Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Electrician position is responsible for the overall inspection, maintenance, installation and repair of electrical equipment and circuits. This position ensures a productive working and learning environment for students, faculty, and staff by providing excellent customer service, professional appearance, timely work, and expert communication skills.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions:  – this position is Non-Exempt, i.e., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

  • Respond to request for service calls/work orders and emergencies (including after hours) as needed
  • Inspect and test systems/parts/equipment/fixtures to verify compliance with plans, operational status, and specifications or detect need for repair/replacement
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly inspections, and scheduled preventive maintenance
  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair indoor/outdoor fixtures, equipment, electrical systems, variable frequency drive systems, emergency power standby systems
  • Study blueprints, design specifications, or manufacturers' recommendations to verify the configuration and to ensure the proper installation of components
  • Assemble, position, and mount electrical components and parts
  • Facilitate installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Electrical and site maintenance support
  • Prep jobsites
  • Plan, layout, and installation of class II wiring systems.
  • Maintain, repair, and install kitchen equipment
  • Order and maintain inventory/schedule for parts, services, equipment, and tools
  • Safely drive vehicles, and operate large complex maintenance equipment
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Follows OSHA and college safety practices, regulations, and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of electrical repair including maintenance of commercial buildings and equipment
  • Ability to operate equipment properly and safely
  • Trade skills in electrical equipment installations, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Must be able to drive vehicles, and operate large complex maintenance equipment
  • Must have a valid Wyoming driver's license and be able to meet the colleges
  • Ability to interpret building blueprints, manufacture installation/repair instructions, and safety data sheets
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and building code regulations; ability to learn, interpret and apply current pertinent federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Working knowledge and ability with computer software programs
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions in oral, written, or diagrammatical form
  • Ability to read and interpret building schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications

Physical/Mental Demands: 

  • Frequently required to squat, bend, twist, kneel, sit, stand, climb, and extend arms over head
  • Work in environments and conditions above ceilings, on roofs, outside, inside, mechanical rooms, tunnels, labs, arena, hallways, meeting rooms and various campus facilities
  • Exposure to and use of safety equipment for outdoor weather extremes for extended periods
  • Exposure to and use of safety equipment for hazardous materials, biohazards, chemicals, electrical equipment, and fuels/petroleum products
  • May be required to climb ladders, maneuver in confined spaces, and work with tools/equipment in unconventional positions
  • Instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum:

  • WY licensed Journeyman Electrician  
  • Four (4) years of experience in general electrical installation, repair and or maintenance of commercial facilities
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to meet the college insurance carrier requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master Electrical License
  • Five or more years of experience
  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field of study
  • OSHA 10 certification or capability to attain certification
