  • This is a Faculty A, 9-month (168 duty days) level 2 position. 
  • Screening will begin ASAP and continue until the position(s) is filled.
  • As soon as practicable after the hiring/interview process. This position is for the Fall 2025 semester. Tentative start date: August 4th, 2025. 

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Faculty A, 2 level position. Starting salary range: $60,950.00 - $71,108.00/annually, depending upon experience.

Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:

The Instructor, Math position is a full-time benefited position responsible for instruction and development of curriculum in the School of Arts and Sciences. As a member of the Math team, the person in this position will work  closely with other faculty to build a robust curriculum for our students. 

 

Full-time faculty are offered provisional status upon employment. Full participation in the Faculty Academy is expected throughout the provisional period; faculty are eligible to apply for continuing contract status in their fourth year of full-time employment at LCCC. All LCCC faculty are supported by the Faculty Academy within the Center for Excellence in Teaching.

 

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

Essential Functions

  • Teaching and Learning: Employs student-centered instruction coupled with the development and use of appropriate and current educational materials. Consistently and promptly responds to student inquiries and shares timely, appropriate, and instructive feedback and evaluation of student work. 
  • Competency-Based Design: Applies competency-based design to the development of curriculum, engaging with colleagues at the course, program, and institutional level with the aim of continuous improvement.
  • Professionalism: Collaborates and actively reflects on responsibilities to positively contributes to one’s discipline, Pathway, the College, and the greater community.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Professional knowledge and ability within the discipline of math
  • Advanced working knowledge and ability with personal computing applications – specifically Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Adobe products (e.g., Reader, Professional)
  • Co-requisite and developmental math course design and implementation

Skills

  • Skill in applying the appropriate teaching techniques and methods in classroom and/or online instruction
  • Successfully working with first generation, low-income, students with learning and other disabilities, and other higher-risk student populations
  • Advanced working knowledge and ability with personal computing applications including Canvas
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

Abilities

  • Ability to teach course content that is consistent with the official course outline of record and use pertinent course materials at an appropriate level
  • Ability to establish a student-instructor relationship conducive to learning and promote active involvement of students in learning activities
  • Ability to continuously monitor and research changes in the industry and field of study and to adapt program offerings to meet these standards
  • Ability to execute the essential functions of this position effectively and professionally with proven capabilities in establishing appropriate professional rapport, communicating with courtesy and tact, accurately determine other’s needs, collecting necessary information, and follow-through when requested
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions in oral, written, or diagrammatical form (e.g., a flow chart of a process) and consider possible applications of discipline related literature and publications.
  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality regarding both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
  • The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
  • The ability to work with a schedule that varies from semester to semester and may include long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors

  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long workdays, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Mathematics or Math Education OR Master’s degree in  Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, of Economics, or a closely related field of study AND 18 or more credits in graduate-level math or math instruction coursework

All LCCC Faculty are required to meet the minimum faculty qualifications as defined within the College’s Administrative Procedure 2.7P. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Community college teaching experience
  • Experience with web-based learning management systems
  • Five or more years of math teaching experience and success with diverse populations (e.g. developmental, at-risk non-traditional, first generation, students with learning and other disabilities).
  • Two or more years of experience teaching developmental and/or co-requisite courses
