Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Classified 8 level position. Starting wage range: $25.86 - $32.60/hourly, depending upon experience.
Job Summary: Core responsibilities of this position include:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and executing payroll operations for the college, including processing payroll for full-time employees and Temporary/Other Personnel (TOP). This role ensures accurate recording, posting of payroll data, and management of direct deposit transactions. The Payroll Specialist serves as the liaison between the College and external agencies such as the Group Insurance Office, the Wyoming Retirement System, and TIAA. Additionally, the position handles state and federal tax reporting for all employees and oversees benefits payments for retirees through the TOP program. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, compliance with federal and state regulations, and effective collaboration with the accounting services team, accounts payable, and human resources. The Payroll Specialist reports directly to the Accounting and Payroll Supervisor and provides guidance to the Payroll Technician I.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.
