Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Classified 7 level position. Starting wage range: $22.05 - $24.91/hourly, depending upon experience.

JOB SUMMARY: 

TThe Housing Occupancy and Retention Specialist works with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Services, Marketing & Communications, and Residential Living & Learning team members to maximize on-campus housing occupancy and resident retention.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – this position is Non-Exempt, i.e., is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

  • High touch interactions with potential on-campus residents which may include phone calls, emails, text messages, and tours.
  • Provides personal follow-up with all potential on-campus residents at all stages of the recruiting cycle to ensure clarity of processes, answer questions and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assess processes with regards to residential recruitment strategies and develop and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate and work closely with Enrollment Services, Marketing & Communications, and other college departments as necessary.
  • Attend appropriate recruitment events to sell the on-campus experience.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both future and current student data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of students
  • The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
  • While performing the functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long work days, evenings, and some weekends needed
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor 
  • Frequently life and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; a team life technique is required for lifts exceeding 50 pounds
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Associate’s degree in business, event planning, marketing or related field of study from an institution accredited by one of the U.S. Department of Education approved institutional accrediting agencies OR three to five years relevant experience
  • One-year experience in sales, marketing, recruiting, leasing, real estate, or similar experience
  • Valid Driver’s License and driving record that provides the ability to be insured by the College’s insurance provider

Preferred Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, event planning, marketing or related field of study from an institution accredited by one of the U.S. Department of Education approved institutional accrediting agencies
  • Three year’s experience in sales, marketing, recruiting, leasing/real estate, or similar experience
  • Experience in student housing and/or higher education
