Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Professional l level position. Starting salary range: $41,670.00 - $47,105.00/annually, depending upon experience.

Job Summary:

Core responsibilities of this position include:

 

The Assistant Director for Residential Living & Learning is responsible for the direct supervision of student staff within the residence halls, including Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants. This includes overseeing the selection and training for all student staff members. The Assistant Director also serves as an on-call professional responsible for managing student conduct issues, crisis response and management and facilities management.

 

Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions:  – this position is Exempt, i.e., is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative; other duties may be assigned).

  • Supervision and Development of Student Staff members. Responsible for direct supervision of Resident Assistants and Desk Assistants working within the residence halls.
  • Hiring and Training of student staff members. Hire, select and train student staff members in both the Resident Assistant role as well as the Desk Assistant role.
  • Serve as a conduct officer hearing conduct cases documented within the residence halls. Scheduling conduct meetings with student, determining responsibility and assigning appropriate sanctions.
  • Serve in an on-call capacity within the residence halls. Provide feedback and respond to various situations as needed, including situations involving policy enforcement, crisis management and facilities issues.
  • Facilities management within the residential facilities. Ensure that all physical facilities are in working order, collaborate with Plant Operations to submit work orders and follow up on facilities issues in a timely manner.

  • Ability to appropriately manage access to confidential information requiring considerable judgment and discretion
  • Knowledge and ability to supervise employees

Physical/Mental Demands: 

  • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, an employee must be able to maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
  • The ability to comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
  • While performing the essential functions of this position a variable work schedule may be required including long work days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions
  • This position is required to live in campus housing, as assigned, and requires an on-call status

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, student services, counseling or related field of study from an accredited institution
  • Two years of experience in residence life, housing, counseling or student services with leadership responsibilities

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student services, counseling or related field of study from an accredited institution
  • Two years of direct experience in Residential Living, Learning, and Housing with supervisory and leadership responsibilities

If you are selected for the position, your appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. LCCC reserves the right to end this employment agreement should the results of your background investigation not be successful.
