  • This is a 12-month Faculty D, 246 duty day position.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, benefited Faculty D, 8 level position. Starting salary range: $94,108.00 - $109,792.00/annually, depending upon experience.

Job Summary:

Core responsibilities of this position include: The dental hygiene faculty member is a 12-month position and is responsible for the coordination, planning, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The faculty member is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Laramie County Community College campus or outreach center as assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction; instructional counseling; academic advising; serving on various committees; coordinating and/or participating in school-based community events and service-learning activities and participating in local, state, regional, or national professional activities and organizations. A faculty member performs all other duties as directed by the Dental Hygiene Program Director, School Dean, Vice President of Instruction, or the President or designee.

  • Faculty employ effective teaching practices coupled with the development and use of appropriate educational materials, delivery strategies, and effective assessment practices. Responsibilities associated with this function include: Teaching, Curriculum Development, Instructional Delivery, Assessment of Student Learning and Continuous Improvement

  • Faculty contribute to the College by engaging in activities that support, stimulate, and sustain the institution and the community. Responsibilities associated with this function include: Align with Core Values, Build Relationships
  • Faculty are knowledgeable about their subject matter and maintain relevancy in their field through activities such as research, publications, presentations, professional association memberships, and/or conference attendance. 
  • The Dental Hygiene Coordinator positions are expected to oversee dental clinic and/or dental radiology within the dental hygiene program.

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Demonstrate collaboration, cooperation and sensitivity in working with patients, students, colleagues and staff in both the clinical and campus settings
  • Computer competency

All LCCC faculty are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the competency areas appropriate to their faculty level as defined in the College’s Administrative Procedure 2.17.1P. In addition, requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include (finish per position)

 

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Perform all of the essential functions of a dental hygienist.

  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work space as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus and clinical facilities. 

  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged personal computer use which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor and reading digital images.

  • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions.

  • An employee must frequently sit and/or stand for extended periods of times to perform essential position functions.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and discern colors of clinical electronic equipment or software and discern contrast of digital or conventional radiographic images.

  • Specific hearing abilities required by this position include the ability to hear voice communication in the clinical environment with individuals wearing protective masks, warning alarms, beeps and buzzes associated with clinic, lab and classroom equipment.

  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well.

  • The position may also experience varying levels of stress. 

  • Must be able to travel between the college and other sites.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree dental hygiene or related field
  • Equivalent of three years full-time dental hygiene clinical experience
  • Current Wyoming dental hygiene license or eligibility to obtain Wyoming License
  • Willingness to complete a Master’s degree program within 5 years of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master in Dental Hygiene, Public Health or related degree, can be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program with satisfactory progression
  • Five years full-time dental hygiene clinical experience
  • Public health experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Clinic supervision experience
  • Certification to administer local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and dental laser
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification
  • Meet immunization requirements for clinical sites
  • Experience with online instruction
