    Job Summary:


    Perform all custodial duties in various areas on campus and to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, attractiveness, health, and safety. A two-way radio is carried at all times in order to facilitate communication.


    Working hours will be three days per week. 6.5 hour shifts for a total of 19.5 hours per week. Monday through Friday, Monday- Thursday the shifts start at 6:00pm and end at 12:30 am. Friday the shift begins at 4:30pm and ends at 11:00pm.



    Closing Date: Open until filled. 


    Start Date: As soon after screening as practical. 


    Compensation: $11.29 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

    Essential Functions

    •Cleans building entrances including sidewalks, ash trays, mats, carpet, glass, metal surfaces, corners, and floors.
    •Cleans office areas including, furniture, phones, lamps, walls, doors, door hardware, wastebaskets, floors, and baseboards.
    •Cleans corridors and lobbies including sweeping, vacuuming floors, baseboards, spot cleaning carpets, drinking fountains, furniture, drapes, and blinds.
    •Cleans stairways and ramps including rails, walls, steps, and landings.
    •Cleans classrooms and laboratories including chalkboards and trays, furniture, equipment, walls, doors, floors, and wastebaskets.
    •Cleans all windows including glass, sills, frames, and blinds.
    •Cleans rest rooms including hardware, fixtures, floors, mirrors, walls, doors, and partitions as well as services paper and soap dispensers.
    •Cleans custodial closets and organizes supplies and equipment. Orders supplies as needed.
    • Cleans all other incidental items or areas such as air vents, storage areas, desks and table tops, dust areas on a regular basis or as needed. Spot clean carpet as needed.
    •Completes assigned detail cleaning during student breaks.
    •Notifies supervisor of problems with mechanical systems, lighting and power, damaged or missing property, equipment, and supplies.

    Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    •Must possess thorough knowledge of cleaning methods and techniques.
    •Ability to properly use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
    •Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength.
    •The ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    •The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
    •Familiarity with and ability to use computer hardware and software

    Physical/Mental Demands: (The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this position and/or may be encountered while performing essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions).

    •Physical - Prolonged exposure to cleaning chemicals (3-4 hours at a time), exposure to dust, and pathogens. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    •Mental - Coping with varying night hour shifts, and the ability to interpret and understand hazardous material labels and safety data sheets (SDS).


    Minimum Qualifications:


    • High-school diploma or an equivalent of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
