    This position is only available for LCCC students majoring in mass media or multimedia and enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the Fall 2019 semester. You will need a resume to complete your application.


     Job Summary:


    Core responsibilities of this position include:


    The Student Media Editors will work as a supervisory team to manage the Wingspan Student Media staff in the publication of daily news reports for Wingspan Online, the Wingspan newspaper, Wingspan TV and other properties as assigned.



     Start Date: Fall/2019.


    Compensation:  Paid via stipend.

    Essential Functions

    • Planning and organization of student media news-gathering activities for print, online, social media and broadcast distribution
    • Lead daily editorial staff meetings, plan labs and classes, and assign work to staff
    • Supplemental instruction of courses associated with student media
    • Supervision of student media labs
    • Assist with MMMM department recruiting and persistence efforts
    • Write and copy edit stories, shoot photographs, and design pages and ads as needed to complete coverage critical to service to the campus community
    • Develop advertising plans and sell and bill for ads
    • Provide performance reviews for student media staff

    Nonessential Functions:  



    An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis

    • Pick up color proofs and newspapers from printer’s office


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and Associated Press style preferred
    • Knowledge of Adobe InDesign software and best practices in newspaper building, including modular design, and planning preferred
    • Knowledge of the entire Adobe Creative Cloud software suite preferred
    • Knowledge of laws pertaining to and protecting journalists preferred
    • Understanding of media ethics, specifically relating to college publications preferred
    • Understanding of the First Amendment as it pertains to a free student press preferred
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Current LCCC student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the current semester
    • Mass media or multimedia major
