This is a part-time position and only available for LCCC students currently enrolled. You will need a resume to complete your application.

 

Job Summary:

Conduct research on various life science projects that may include laboratory work and/or field work. Maintain and continue ongoing projects including but not limited to organism culture, sample preparation, data entry.  Assist with maintenance of equipment, research facilities, and safe working environment.

 

 

Start Date: As soon as practical after offer is made.

 

Compensation: $15.03 per hour.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts all experiments using currently accepted techniques including safe use of research organisms, chemicals and equipment
  • Communicates the results of experiments both in writing as orally as appropriate to peers, supervisors and the scientific community

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of introductory levels of content in a natural science field (biology, chemistry, physics) including understanding of the scientific method and application to unexplored questions
  • Ability to find and evaluate primary scientific literature to ascertain previous work and background on the projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and speaking
  • Ability to follow and develop (as necessary) procedures for lab activities
 

Physical/Mental Demands: 

  • Ability to work long, or irregular hours as dictated by the parameters of a given experiment or research organism
  • This position may require working outside in primitive conditions during field work

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Experience conducting novel research and project responsibility including collaborative activities as well as professional communication of the results. Previous involvement in LCCC research group

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with fungal culture, dermestid colonies and molecular biology techniques
