This part-time position is only available for LCCC students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for the Spring/2018.

 

Job Summary: 

Core responsibilities of this position include: Provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone or to remote locations. Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including but not limited to: Internet, printing, mobile devices, software installation, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail, and operating systems. Provide assistance to clients concerning access to virtual services and classrooms, including but not limited to: Eagles Eye, D2L, registration, transcripts and smart room technology. Enter unresolved problems into the department tracking software. Must have evening and weekend availability.

 

Start Date: Open until filled. Screening to begin immediately.

 

Compensation: $10.03 per hour.

Essential Functions

  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Troubleshoot technology related issues and resolve accordingly
  • Train people on basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word
  • Enter information into call tracking system
  • Must be able to work and make decisions independently

 

Nonessential Functions:  

An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis:

  • General office duties such as replace printer paper
  • Cleaning duties as assigned
  • Other duties as required
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Must have knowledge of computers
  • Understanding of computer software such as e-mail, D2L, Eagles Eye, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome.  Or the ability to learn. Must be able answer the telephone, read e-mail, type information into computer programs
  • Should have basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, including but not limited to: Internet, printing, mobile devices, software installation, word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail, and operating systems or the ability to learn
  • Should be able to visualize, from descriptions relayed over phone, e-mail, or in person normal computer error messages
  • Must be able to meet on an equal basis all types of people. Must be able to control your temper when dealing with irate customers
  • Must be able to be firm when customers in the Student Computer Center refuse to obey the rules

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must be able to use basic computer programs, such a Microsoft Word and Excel

 Preferred:

  • Current LCCC student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Spring/2018 semester
