    This is a part-time, temporary position.


    Job Summary:

    Inspect lighting around campus and replace lamps as necessary. Compile a list of bad ballasts for electrician to replace.

    Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need. Assist other trades as directed by the MEP/ Trades Supervisor



    Compensation: $10.03/hr. commensurate with experience.


    Screening Date: Position is open until filled. 


    Start Date: As soon after screening as practical.


    Essential Functions

    • Inspect lighting around campus and replace lamps as necessary.
    • Compile a list of bad ballasts for electrician to replace.
    • Follows OSHA and college safety practice regulations and procedures.
    • Provide excellent customer service by using professional and effective language to communicate.

    Nonessential Functions:  

    An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis.

    • Sweep and mop Mechanical rooms/ tunnels.
    • Assist Physical Plant personnel as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to safely climb a ladder up to 10’ in height.


    Physical/Mental Demands:


    • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to squat, bend, twist, kneel, sit, stand, extend arms over head. 
    • Work in assorted environments and conditions above ceilings mechanical rooms, tunnels, labs, arena, hallways, meeting rooms and various campus facilities.
    • Exposure to outdoor weather extremes for extended periods of time.
    • Exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and fuels/petroleum products.
    • May be required to climb ladders, maneuver in confined spaces, and work with tools/equipment in unconventional positions.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
    • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and jobs. along with being able to respond quickly to an emergency situation as well.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds.
    • An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions.




    • Current LCCC student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Spring/2017 semester.
    • Must have a valid driver's license, and be able to meet college insurance carrier requirements.
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
    • Current LCCC Student.


    • Mechanical aptitude.
    • Experience using general tools and equipment i.e. hammer, wrenches, power washer, grinder.
