This is a part-time, temporary position. Multiple positions are available under this listing.

 

Youth Sports Institute event dates one week in June and one week in July. 

 

Job Summary:

 

This position will plan, organize and lead youth sports activities for the LCCC Youth Sports Institute to youth ages 6 to 12. The sports type, content, times, and dates will be pre-determined by the program based on community need, and some sports may be created or adapted in the future. Current sports taught by this position include, but are not limited to, Swimming, Tennis, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Rodeo, Equine.   

 

 

Compensation: $15.39 per hour.

 

Screening Date: Positions are open until filed. 

 

Start Date: June 2017.

 

Essential Functions

Ensure a safe environment for everyone
Instruct youth in specific sport rules, techniques, definitions
Understand and comply with all safety regulations and emergency procedures

Interact with a diverse group of participants in a professional manner. Prepare and present quality, topic-related information

Coordinate regularly with the Athletics office regarding the details and status of the sport being taught as well as required paperwork such as the submission of participant liability waivers.
Attend any required trainings with the Athletics Program

 

Nonessential Functions:   An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis.

Call participants to clarify questions unique to the sport being taught, which the Athletics staff may not be able to answer.
Meet in person with the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, and/or other staff, to plan and coordinate details of the youth sports institute.

Interpret and enforce all safety regulations
Respond to emergency situations
Work with a wide variety of learners and diverse backgrounds to build positive relationships
Interpersonal and communication skills
Conflict resolution skills
Ability to work varied shifts depending on events and staffing needs
Work with limited supervision

 

 

Physical/Mental Demands: 

This position may require sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift or assist children up to 75 lbs. in weight
Occasionally must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
Frequently may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking
Ability to attend all trainings and required meetings 

Qualifications

Minimum:

At least 16 years of age

Some experience related to the sport being taught

Swimming Qualifications: Swimming Instructor certification (Red Cross, YMCA, or other)
CPR and First Aid Certification

 

 

Preferred:
Experience working with children
