This is an applicant pool for part-time Life Guard positions. Applications will be reviewed and considered on an as needed basis.

 

Job Summary:

Represent Laramie County Community College in a professional manner. Observe the swimmers to maintain order and safety.  Communicate and enforce facility and safety rules.   Communicate with the responsible individual or individuals from the group to provide competent and courteous service.  Provide appropriate and available equipment.  


If necessary, performs aquatic rescue procedure.  Contact the appropriate level of support required for issues or incidents.  Report incidents to the PE Facility Manager. 

Unlock and relock facilities per schedule provided by the PE Facility Manager.  Monitor locker rooms.

Maintain up-to-date skills and certifications.  Obtain training from the Athletic and Campus Recreation.

 

 

Compensation: Minimum $10.41, commensurate with experience.

 

 

 

Essential Functions

Represent LCCC in a professional manner. Observe the swimmers to maintain order and safety.  Communicate and enforce LCCC facility and safety rules.   Communicate with the responsible individual or individuals from the group to provide competent and courteous service.  Provide appropriate and available equipment.

Nonessential Functions:   An employee in this position may perform some of these responsibilities on an infrequent basis.

Monitor locker rooms.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of aquatic rescue procedures
Knowledge of CPR
Ability to communicate in a professional manner under pressure or in an emergency situation
Ability to assess emergency situation and act appropriately
Ability to act with authority and enforce rules with occasionally uncooperative customers with regard to inappropriate behavior, unsafe behavior or behavior that violates PE Pool or facility use rules

Physical ability to perform aquatic rescue for swimmers ranging from small children to large adults
Physically able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds
Physical ability to perform CPR and basic first aid
Physical ability to stand and walk
Physical ability to tolerate of loud noise
Mental ability to function calmly and professionally in an emergency
Mental ability to make quick and accurate decisions
Mentally capable of enforcing rules in an authoritative manner with occasionally uncooperative customers

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Lifeguard Certification

 

Preferred:

Experience as a certified lifeguard
